In 2015, Lioness Tamar publicly broke her silence on Facebook about the childhood sexual abuse and rape she had experienced in her early years. Since then, she has become a fearless voice for the voiceless, helping ensure survivor voices are recognised and heard at every level, from grassroots communities to the highest spaces of political influence.
The Lioness Uncaged is a living testimony of her personal journey — one of pain, courage, healing and transformation.

Born from one survivor breaking silence, The Lioness Circle has grown into a community.
What began as intimate coffee mornings by Lioness Tamar in 2017, has evolved into Croydon’s first survivor-led grassroot network created ‘by and for’ Black women and girls’ survivors of domestic abuse and sexual violence.
The Lioness Circle provide a holistic, non-judgemental service covering a range of long-term support from advocacy, workshops, creativity, peer mentoring, signposting and much more.
Through a culturally sensitive and trauma informed approach, we work with survivors who are often navigating multiple forms of abuse, new or ongoing unsafe relationships, and deep systemic barriers—particularly for racialised communities who face added obstacles to reporting harm and accessing mainstream services.
We recognise that healing does not follow a straight line, and survival does not end when abuse ends. That is why The Lioness Circle exists to bridge gaps, hold space, and walk alongside survivors from harm to healing. We don’t just help women break free—we support them to transform pain into power, isolation into community, and survival into thriving.
This is survivor-led change and collective healing.
