About The Lioness Circle
Survivor-led ~ Culturally-rooted ~
Trauma-informed
Founded in 2017 by Lioness Tamar, The Lioness Circle is Croydon's first survivor-led, grassroots organisation rooted in the African and Caribbean community. What began as intimate coffee mornings has evolved into a powerful creative and holistic support space where survivors feel supported to heal, rebuild and thrive after abuse.

We support women who have experienced domestic abuse, coercive control, sexual violence, childhood abuse and intersecting harms. Through connection, creativity, advocacy and trusted signposting— we recognise that healing is ongoing and often layered.

Many survivors face multiple forms of harm, new or continuing unsafe relationships and barriers to accessing mainstream support, especially within racialised communities.

The Lioness Circle exists to bridge those gaps and walk alongside one another—transforming isolation into connection, pain into power and survival into collective strength.
